In the hills of Sejnane, in northern Tunisia, pottery is shaped as it has been for generations—by hand, without tools, guided by memory.
This vase begins with clay gathered from the land, softened with water, and slowly formed through a coiling process. Each gesture leaves a trace—slight irregularities that remain visible once the piece is complete.
Fired in open flames, the surface develops its deep black tone, marked by subtle variations—smoke, heat, and earth combining into a finish that cannot be replicated.
The markings reflect Berber symbols carried through generations, expressing ideas of protection, balance, and continuity.
Placed on a table, a shelf, or within a quiet corner, the vase holds presence even when empty.
It does not seek perfection—only balance between form, material, and time.
Each piece is made in small batches by women artisans, continuing a practice rooted in place and passed from one generation to the next.
